I wanted an app I would actually open

I quit the other apps

I had the calorie apps. I quit every one of them. Logging felt like homework, and it made me more obsessed with the numbers than aware of what I was eating.

The first breakfast

The first night I typed breakfast, Simor rubbed his belly. A cup of tea and a croissant landed on the plate. I wanted to log dinner the same way, in my own words, so the rest of the night would show up on that plate too.

Why the bird is named Simor

His name comes from Simorgh, a healing bird in Persian myth. He lives on the home screen, so the day reads like feeding a pet. The numbers come from Edamam. You can open them when you want. Most of the time you just look at the plate.

Simor Labs in Toronto

Simor Labs Inc. is in Toronto, at 350 Bay St, Suite 1300B. I started it in 2025. I am the only founder. A small group of contractors and freelancers builds the app with me. There is no outside funding.

The map below is that office. For the app, write to support@simor.app. The contact page is the same office if you want a form instead of an email.

What a day looks like

I open the app and he is already on the home screen. I type what I ate, in my own words. When I still have Plus scans, I can take a photo, say the meal, or point at a barcode. If the plate is unclear, he asks once, and only when the answer would change the result. I can change the meal before I keep it.

About twenty reactions are in v1. He looks ready to eat, happy when he is full, and a little frustrated when he is overfed. Energy shows up as bolts and a ring. I tap the count when I want the calories. Protein, carbs, and fat sit next to it.

You can set a goal to lose, hold, or gain. Simor shows the direction and won't promise a number on the scale.
